Monday, January 17, 2011 - Reza Khandan.avait was arrested after calling the prosecutor's office and was charged with "encouragement to the public and publication of lies" and his bail was set at $ 50,000. Reza Khandan also reported that the bond filed by Guité Sotoudeh's sister, Nasreen, had been refused by the judge; Khandan family has been forced to present another guarantor for the bond. Reza Khandan has finally been released this afternoon against a deposit made by another guarantor. Importantly Reza Khandan was summoned to the prosecutor's office in Evin prison after the verdict was announced by his wife.
Nasrine Sotoudeh, lawyer and human rights activist remains in solitary confinement in Evin prison despite international pressure and numerous hunger strikes to protest against the illegality of his accusations against. Nasrine Sotoudeh was arrested Sept. 4. She was sentenced to 11 years in prison and banned from practicing law and leave the country 20 years.
